One Big Happy Family is another feelgood family story from Susan Mallery. Julie is a tow truck company owner who works with her son Nick and her daughter Dana’s on and off again boyfriend Axel. As the holidays approach, she is looking forward to spending it with her new beau, Heath. But as plans start to fall apart at both ends, Christmas becomes one big happy family event at Julie’s monster of a winter cabin.
This book has cozy, holiday read all over it. Julie is used to being the matriarch and has everything from decorations to a fully planned menu. As Christmas comes closer, more and more people join the clan and although there is some drama, the story will still make readers feel warm and cozy at the closure of the book. I loved the cast of characters and their realistic interactions in the book. Susan Mallery always does a wonderful job with the natural dialogue she creates between characters. And the cold winter backdrop with snow and the cutting if the tree made me want to grab my own cup of hot cocoa.
