I have a soft spot for mysteries that know exactly what they are. The Clock House Murders sounds built around one of my favorite promises: a locked-room puzzle with enough confidence to let the setup do the work.
What pulls me in is the clean shape of it. I don’t need a mystery to scream at me. I need tension, clarity, and the feeling that the author understands how satisfying it is when every strange detail eventually clicks into place.
If a book can give me that little jolt of curiosity before I’ve even cracked it open, I’m already halfway sold.
