Not Your Ex’s Hexes (Supernatural Singles, 2)

Not Your Ex’s Hexes is the second book in April Asher’s Supernatural Singles series. I wasn’t aware of that when I picked up this book, so for the first few chapters, I felt like I was chaotically thrust into several characters’ lives without any knowledge of their previous histories or the author’s world-building. There are quite a lot of character names with supernatural statuses and abilities and otherworldly type social structures to sift through and catch up on rather quickly, but if you can bear with it for a few chapters it does get easier to follow.

The main character, Rose Maxwell, is a powerful witch who has recently been unappointed Prima Apparent for the Supernatural Council. Feeling lost and restless, she makes a tiny one-night type of mistake that lands her in the arms of Damian Adams, a half-demon veterinarian. Damian has his hands full already trying to cope with the animals at his rescue and a curse from his ex-girlfriend that certainly doesn’t mix well with love, but he’s finding it nearly impossible to deny their growing attraction.

If you enjoy opposites attract, forced proximity, or friends-to-lovers romances with a sexy supernatural twist, then this is the book for you.
