The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2024 is now published. Along with series editor John Joseph Adams, this year’s guest editor is best-selling author Hugh Howey. As always, the BASFF features the who’s-who of sci/fi and fantasy authors. This year’s anthology starts with two heavy hitters, James S.A. Corey and Rebecca Roanhorse. The curators and editors don’t let up, featuring stories from P. Djeli Clark, Amal El-Mohtar, Grady Hendrix, Ann Leckie, Sam J. Miller, and many others.
The twenty stories featured in the BASFF are the top ten of both sci-fi and fantasy. If you are unfamiliar with BASFFs, series editor Adams compiles a list of the top eighty stories published in North America from Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2023. This list is then sent to guest editor Howey. Howey then selects his top twenty. These are the stories published in this year’s edition. Fans of short sci-fi and fantasy will thoroughly enjoy this year’s BASFF. This book includes other notable stories and lists of publications from which entities were chosen.
